MORE THAN JUST A FISHING TRIP
Enjoy a guided freshwater fishing trip on the lake known for its Peacock Bass and Oscars. Perfect excuse to be in the middle of the Panama Canal surrounded by nature and animals. This activity requires a minimum amount of skill, and only asks for a small amount of gear. All necessary equipment is included.
DEPARTURE AND RETURN
We depart from Gamboa Public Dock at 7:00 am and we are back at the dock at 1:30 pm
EXCURSION RATES
min. 2 persons - $150/adult and $95/child (price per person)
3 to 5 persons -$135/adult and $80/child (price per person)
6 or more persons - $110/adult and $65/ child (price per person)
* Because of the nature of this tour, we can only accept children aged 3 and over.
The child rate applies to children 6-12 years old.
There is no charge for ages 3-5.

Lake Gatun Fishing Adventure

Location: Gamboa Public Dock
Duration: 4 hours (Optional 2-hour extension with lunch)
Get ready for an unforgettable fishing experience on the calm waters of Lake Gatun! We set off at 7:00 AM from the Gamboa Public Dock, gliding across the misty lake as the sun rises. After a 30-minute boat ride, we arrive at prime fishing spots where the challenge begins.
Lake Gatun is home to a variety of fish species, with the Peacock Bass being the most sought-after by freshwater anglers due to its strength and fight. Other species you may encounter include:
✅ Butterfly Peacock Bass (Cichla ocellaris)
✅ Jack Crevalle (Caranx latus)
✅ Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)
✅ Tarpon (Megalops atlanticus) – a powerful catch that requires strong fishing gear and patience

As you fish, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views of the tropical forest, exotic birds, and the diverse wildlife of Lake Gatun. The tour wraps up at 11:00 AM, but if you’d like to extend your adventure, you can add a 2-hour extensionand visit our lodge for a delicious lunch featuring your freshly caught fish or local dishes.
🚤 Bonus Stop: On the way back, we’ll make a quick visit to Monkey Island, where you can observe playful monkeys in their natural habitat.
💲 Optional Extension: $25 per person (includes lunch & extra time on the lake).
Expert local Guidance & Fully Equipped Boats
Our expert local guides know the best fishing spots and share their deep knowledge of fish behavior. They help preserve the ecosystem by advising which species, such as the Oscar fish (Astronotus ocellatus), must be released back into the water.
No need to bring equipment—we’ve got you covered! Our boats are fully equipped with fishing rods, hooks, lures, and bait (including live sardines), so you can focus on the thrill of fishing. Plus, the boats are covered, ensuring a comfortable experience.
